Alright im going to be getting an offy 4 barle intake for my 82 300-I6. Now i just need to know where to get a good header that will fit whith this intake. I woulkd like to stay under $300 if possible. Thanks in advance!
i know clifford makes a header but there WAY overpriced. heddmen also makes a header and a few run it on FTE. its like $150 or so from summit. but u might be better off with the EIF manifolds with a little grindin they should fit.
I have run the Hedmann header, and the EFI manifolds with the Offey intake, and the manifolds are much better. You get much more torque, and they flow just the same. The Clifford headers work only with their intake, and the hedmann's can be used with the Offey intake. The Hedmann's, though, have a thinner flange, so are prone to leakage. If you get the EFI duals, there is a lug that has to be ground off, but this is really easy, they seal nicely, and look pretty decent.
My truck runs twice as good with the Hedmans as it did with the EFI manifolds. The flange on the Hedmans is just as thick as the manifolds, if it wasn't the bolts wouldn't contact it properly. I've had my Hedmans on for 3 years and have had no leaks.
silver streak, did u loose a lot of bottem end with ur header? id like to get the most outta my exhaust and was considerin a header but dont wanna loose my bottem end. as im sure most arent willin to do either
I didn't lose any bottom end at all. The primary tubes are only 1-5/8", which is the size of a typical small block V8 primary. The cylinders on the 300 are the same displacement as a 400, so the tubes are really on the small side for this engine. That actually helps on the low end.
