I have been trying to learn more about these and others. What are your opinions on these? Are they any good? I mean its only TP. Is that really safe and how long does it extend your oil changes?
I change my oil at every 5000 and I would like to extend that to atleast 10000 will this get me there and protect the motor?
I have a frantz filter, I only have 1500 miles on it, I put it in with 1000 miles on the oil, and took a sample at that time, I just took another sample and will be sending it in shortly. When i get those results back they will be side by side, and I hope I will be able to say it works or it doesn't. As far as the TP and whether or not it holds up, I put a thousand miles on the filter, it was as black as coal, but I was amazed at how strong the TP was. I took it out and unrolled about half of the roll looking for metal shavings or grime. I honestly believe the TP is tougher when it has been high pressure cooked by an oil bath for long periods of time. The Install was easy, and changing the filter is simple, also the oil looks cleaner to me, but we will see when I get the results back.
I will post a thread as soon as I get a reply from Blackstone.
I am running one but don't really change it often enough. i usually put 2500 miles on it before i change it. I am working on being more faithful with it. It has to help. my oil is by no mean clear even after an oil change. I also tried a 10k oil change but decided against it as I have a poor idle and wear metal wear that great. but I have since found out I am plagued by high iron counts anyway. I like the filter but I haven't seen a night and day difference yet. I need a better cahnge interval then see where I stand.
I have my used oil analysis posted in my webshots. look at them and read the report to see what oil and what not was used. i also have one really bad report when my turbo went south. but the high iron is a trend that has been constant since I bought the truck.
Also all that said and the frantz filter has been around for decades. its cheap and filter are cheap. The filter don't break down as you might think. As BK said the paper does get strong when soaked with oil. I tried to rip open my first filter change and couldn't I had to use a razor to cut it and even that didn't work well. install pics and plumbing pics in my webshots as well.
I like it and have no problems, but before I say it is worth buying I want to make sure it is filtering. It looks like it filters, it is easy to change filters, and it is cost effective, but the oil analysis hope fully will say yes it is doing its job, or no. If the oil analysis looks good I am going to install 3 more. Mailed it out yesterday, should have results by friday.
Casey I also believe in the system. I just have trends that I need to get figured out in my oil. There are many oil filtering fanatics as well that love these systems. Visit this site and ask the question there http://theoildrop.server101.com/foru...=0&Board=UBB36
Also to clarify my statement about my oil not being cleaner. I mean cleaner by looking. Its not clear like new oil. My oil analysis come back very good other than Iron. That is what I am trying to figure out.
Man, i really wish i had something diesel powered to test the seafoam on.
I'll make sure to save you some of my oil to look at next time I run seafoam in the crank tim.
That stuff is friggen marvelous on oil extension. It comes out honey and clear, not black and grimey.
