When installing the new ball joints in the D60 I'm rebuilding, per the manual, I tightened the lower nut to 35 ftlbs, then went to tightend the uppers to 70 ft lbs and notice that the camber sleeve had been pushed up about 1/4". Tightening the upper nut to 70 didn't push the sleeve back in... it's still sticking up about 1/4". Is this anything to worry about? Thanks!
The sleeves have about a 1/4 inch shoulder on the top. is that what you see?
No, it's not the shoulder... there is about 1/4 inch gap between the should of the bushing sleeve and the knuckle itself. I'll try loosening things up, push it down and try again!
use a big deep well socket and a hammer. if that don't skip the torue specs and crank it down. i just hammer them babies on with my inpact and its far tighter than 75 ft lbs.
Man! Am I glad you guys said that, I reef down on them too....around here we call it "Chet tight", Chet is a really big guy that can break really big stuff loose with his bare hands , hard on tools too hehe!

That's pretty funny. I think Chet may have been the one that put the old ball joints in! Had a heck of a time getting them out!
Thanks guys, I think I'll try loosening things up, try to get the sleeves to seat
again, then crank it down 'Chet tight'!!!
