i have a 96 f-150 with the i-6. at start up when it is cold it has been idling higher thatn usual. then as it calms itself down, it idles up and down for for about 10-20 seconds. this whole process takes about 1-2 minutes. any ideas?
Just curious: How high does the idle go? Mine goes up to about 1600 or so for a half minute maybe, but I suspect yours is going over 2000.

Might want to cheeck your IAC (idle air controler). Mine would idle normal and then at random times would idle up to about 1500. Did this for about two days before I took off the IAC and cleaned it out with some carb cleaner. Haven't had the problem since. The IAC is on the air intake, right where the air tube (tubes) meet the intake. Hope this helps ya.
