I would check the timeing marks. Bring damper up to top dead center. And see of roter is pointed at number one on your distributor cap. Ford are noted for that dial pin bracking in the disterber gear. The last two Fords i did thats what it was. Good place to start anyhow. and make sure thats TDC on the commpression stroke.

had similar problem occur. mine was flooding my intake for some reason. rebuild (found a loose screw) didn't help. had to go new. check to see if your manifold is flooded by looking through top of carb. shouldn't be anything puddled in there.
never figured out why that happened...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-12-03 AT 11:03 PM (EST)]Have you removed the distributer lately? Like the previous post, pull the cap and make sure that the rotor is pointed ~the one position when the first cylinder is at TDC at compression stroke. Sounds like your not getting the spark when you should.

well i took the coil off and took the screw out and there was oil in it and i let it sit over night and got up the next morning and there was oil all over the place the spark i had was real weak i think we checked the timing not to long ago and it was dead on we replaced the brain box to so all that should be ok i was thinking about buying a new coil and putting it on but the weather has been so #####ty out its not gonna happen for a while i dont need the truck now but dont wanna have to mess with it all summer long to find the problem

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-13-03 AT 11:24 PM (EST)]Get a pair of vise grips wrap a rag around a rubber part of the fuel line and clamp it down, then crank the engine over with the gas pedel down it should start it eventually. The coil does sound bad but it does sound like the float is sticking also, you might try tapping the carb with a rubber mallot a few times, sometimes it does help. The most likely senario is you will need the carb rebuilt, these carbs are quick to rebuilt and the kit is only $15 with a $5 float that extra of course but do they want an arm and a leg for a reman carb, $350 so rebuilding it is the only feasable option.
