98 explorer transfer case

any ideas, I keep getting 4x4 high and 4x4 low lights flash 6 times every 2 minutes. upon starting up explorer and making a turn you feel 4x4 is engaged have the three way selector on dash auto, 4 high, and 4 low. pulled off shift motor moves when you select 4 low and goes back when you turn ****. changed transfer case fluid, cleaned both HALE sensors, and changed computer behind radio. the only that works is pulling #10 fuse, but then I lose lights and 4x4 but it's not locked in 4x4. I keep reading similar threads on here what am I missing? thanks in advance.

flashing OD and transfer case/ PROBLEMS

My 97 explorer sport XLT was doing the same as others, blinking 4wd light started but seemed to drive ok, this went on for months, happening now and then, (6 flashes, stop then six flashes)

Then the OD light started doing the same thing. It didnt do it all the time only now and then. Then the car started like grinding or like the brakes were on while turning corners. I guess the 4x4 was engaging.

took it to the garage and they put a new auto shift motor $300+$100 labor,I believe he called it the transfer case to fix the 4wd problem. He said something about not engaging so needed to be replaced. Drove great for a week, no problems, still no problem. I don't drive much so my son took it out for a hour or so and the OD/off light started blinking again and when braking it started screeching even though the brakes feel fine! I know the OD and the 4x4 are diffrent but I got one fixed and now I have to find out how to get the OD fixed.

This screeching is something new, never had this before! Only after they put that new part on (transfer case) for the 4wd. It only happens now and then. The longer it is driven it starts its crazy stuff.

I think this new screeching noise has to be from something the garage did when putting in this new case, but when I called they said probably not.

last year about this time, the car started running rough ,"hard start" he called it. So I took it in to my usual garage, he did a total flush. (no idea what sort of flush I know nothing about cars) but it has ran great until all this started.

Could this new auto shift motor be causing this screeching noise? What to do now about the OD/off light? I don't feel any thing wrong with the way it drives as far as the gears shifting.

Now the 4wd has been fine since replacing but the flashing OD/off and this new screeching when braking. What is it and what to do?

My old mechanic told me to always check the sensors in this vehicle before doing anything, but he is no longer working.

If the car is driving ok but the OD off keeps coming on after driving it for awhile, and screeching now, what could be wrong with it? I hope not the trans. Have you had the OD problem yet? HELP HELP PLEASE

my post above, I have been reading and I guess the transfer case and motor case are not the same thing? Is this correct?
