OEM running board replacement

Has anybody had to replace a stock running board yet?

I live in a 'salt' zone, and though the truck has no rust and has been oiled for the 1st 3 yrs of life, the drivers side 'reinforcement plate' under the plastic has rotted.

The stealership wants $153 for the plate - no hardware. FPN 16A64

Anyone have any cheaper avenues for this?

Unless someone runs up auction the costs will probably be close to same but you will have two complete boards so if other side begins to rot you don't have to fork out another $150 to Ford parts counter.

guys, that auction says that they were removed off of his super duty when he got it new. the X running boards are longer than the sd boards. and they dont have the lights on them

My bad. Well I am sure if your patient you can find a pair used for price of hardware for one and do both sides.

I have a set that I bought for my crewcab pickup but am not satified with them as they don't fit the crewcab the way I would like. I bought another set (correct ones I hope and will sell this set off of an Excursion, complete with the lights.
