metallic

Is it possible to buy metallic flake as itself and mix in oil base paintlike rustoleum?

Rustoleum.......Yuk, I don't use the stuff for automotive painting.

A old street rodder neighbor of 78 sprays it as his primer after a acid wash.
By three years all his projects are crazing, lifting with rust streaks.
I've had great results with epoxy primer sealer unless something newer or better is out there.

Pull up the Rustoleum site. They have a very impressive line that the normal consumer doesn't know about. And a tech line for questions.

I remember buying crushed glass from a body guy when I was in high school. mixed it with clear over the base coat then topped it off with more clear(no glass) At the time metal flakes were also available, but the price of the glass was more more affordable. you may want to check with a paint store

Yes, Some paint stores will sell you the flakes. But most flackes are in a color base to suspend it.

House of Kolor and DuPonts new Hot Hues both carry flake, from fine to Big Daddy huge flake, just be sure if you go with the larger you use a large tip to spray it.

Go to a hobby shop they sell the flake seperate and in different colors the only thing it
is very small flakes, No bass boat paintjobs on models I guess!!
