I paid $500 each for my two 1977 F250's. Both are 2wd and both had body rusy and cosmtic dents. Both were in driveable condition.
Now I'm looking for a 1956 or older in similar condition for similar price. That will be a lot tougher. Plus I'd prefer a mercury.

Hmmm - I'll keep this strictly to my older fords since I swap cars a lot.

70 F-250 Longbed 2wd - bought for $350 ($500 once delivered), sold $500 worth of parts off it and kept the nice 302 out of it

73 F-250 camper special - bought for $300, ($360 once delivered), sold $650 worth of parts off it and kept a nice grill shell and some misc. odds and ends I needed

74 F-250 4wd crew cab - bought for $5,250 and will be dumping plenty more into it. The good thing is I can offset what I have to buy by selling what I take off

77 F-250 2wd crew cab - bought for $500 ($600 once delivered), sold $1,125 or so woth of parts off it after grabbing a few small parts I needed

Either I'm rich or just a sucker for old trucks; I believe the later of the two. Sounds like you guys are great negotiators. Here's my list
59 F100 $500 very good condition, modify 4x4 sold for $700 after storing for three years. Never touch it.
64 F100 $150 no title parts truck; sold for $250 after removal on all interior chrome & sun visors.
65 F100 $2,100 running very limited body rust, now have over 12K invested (in gallery)
66 F100 $800 running light rust daily driver for 4 years; sold for $1250, minus numerous parts for other trucks.
68 F100 $500 running new daily driver; moderate bed rust. (Future pro street truck)
78 F100 $1500 81k original miles documented I drove for 1 year next restoration project for my 14 yr old daughter.
A couple of other parts trucks usually break even on cost after stripping parts for myself or friends.

79 Bronco 400 C6 in pretty good shape, engine was rebuilt 70K miles ago, it was a daily driver(so most things were replaced in order to have a reliable truck), basically no rust, and a decent paint job- $1,500
Wasn't the prettist:

A few mods since then and about $3,500 more.....

1968 F100 2wd - $400, now project race truck, value ~$24,000
1972 F100 4wd - $500, resto'd with every available OEM tooling part, value ~ $12500
1974 F350 SCS - Free, parts truck mainly - value - irreplaceable
1976 F250 4wd - Free, farm truck, tough as hell, irreplaceable
1979 F150 4wd - $1500, mud drag rig, value ~ $28,000
1979 F150 2wd - $200, daily driver, mostly just fast... its worth a lot to me but thats it.

I've had numerous offers on the 68, 72, and 79 but I don't want to sell them... they're like family... creepy, huh?
