The engine is a 360 V8 out of a 69 F-100. Wanting to make some serious hp and torque and make this sucker fly but I don't know jack about the older carb engines. What would ya'll recommend doing to it? Heads, intakes, cams, carbs, cranks, pistons? all that good stuff. I'm also thinking the C-4 for tranny. Will this work? Thanks.
I don't want to sound sarcastic when I say all it takes is money, but you are dealing with a motor that is about 30 years old, that is pretty much what to expect.
These old dogs make good hp, can put brand x in the weeds, and will pull your grandmothers house.
There are a lot of performance parts at swap meets but there is a lot of junk if you don't know what you are looking for.
My first suggestion is to find a book called Ford Performance by Pat Ganahl. The ISBN number is 0-931472-05-9. It may be out of print but there are copies out there. Read it and learn it and you will do well.
Check back here with specific questions because I think the best Ford guys available all belong to this website. You will get good advise here.
The best parts to consider upgrades on are CJ heads, aluminum intakes, and if you can find them, cast iron 427 shorty headers.
Good luck, don't give up, and keep us posted.

Now, I'm assuming you want high hp, but are willing to sacrifice a little torque way down low, and have plenty of $$$$. Here's my suggestion. Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and intake, Holley 750 vacuum secondary, 10:1 compression (aluminum heads will take it), cam with roughly 220degrees duration at .050, and roughly .525 in lift. Comp cam 270H is pretty close but i'd look into the newer Extreme line, they seem to be better. Biggest thing is to get rid of the 360 crank and go to a 390 rotating assembly, you're losing a ton of torque other wise. This combo. is good for a legitimate 400+ hp and 425 ft. lbs of torque.
