Electrical Question

Ok Fuse #8 blows No power locks, no courtesy bell, no odometer, no speedo, no overhead light. Does anybody have a simple schematic or a common point of reference for the 97 obs with this problem? Help....TAter

Yep I had the same problem on my 95. I think it was the #8 fuse but all those things didn't work. I needed a new keyless entry module. If you unplug it you won't have power locks or dome lights but the fuse won't blow anymore. The module has 3 long flat connectors and is under the dash to the right of the steering column.

thats the way it went with mine. The module i got form the salvage yard lasted a few weeks then did the same thing. they gave me another one and it was good from then on. just a note they are the same modules that many other fords use so just check around. I got mine for $50.

When the fused popped, did you get erratic shifting from the tranny also?

yes the tranny will shift very harsh. but that could be caused by other stuff too if you don't have any blown fuses

I did have the same fuse blown, and I didn't realize till I found a link in another thread to a picture of the fuse layout that it is definitely number 8. The fuse blows, and I have been carrying some with me and changing it on the fly. I'm going to try disconnecting that module tomorrow to see what happens. Thanks a ton for your help!

Well, I don't have a keyless entry module, so I guess I have to go through every module on the circuit . It looks like there are a bunch of them.
