Question '08 6.4 information center lighting

I have a new '08 F250 crew. Has anyone noticed this? When driving at night, the information center display lighting level will be the same as the instrument cluster backlighting. Nice and dim. Every now and then the information center lights get brighter and will stay that way for a few minutes and then go back to the same lighting level. No warnings messages are displayed and the same information is consistently displayed. I have scoured the owners manual but no answers. It just gets brighter. Any comments? Regen maybe?

Mine does that during the day or low light conditions when I turn my lights on manually. It's like the light auto-on sensor is sending a "turn the lights on" command and the little read out area is changing the light brightness. I'm speculating.

I haven't noticed it at night, but my experience is more similar to Chap198's. At dawn and dusk, I find the auto lights turn off and on all the time, depending on if I'm in the shadows or not.

It may be something as simple as a bad light sensor. Whatever it is, it should be handled by the dealership, under warranty.

I have noticed that mine seems to flash to bright every once in a while too ! I thought it was just my old eye's . No perceivable problem with it

Mine was ocasionally dimming out during the day till I figured out why. I was tossing my hat into the big tray on top of the dash and covering the sensor.

Mine does the same thing, it must be built into the auto lamps , if you turn them off it will never do it .
