LAST EDITED ON 03-Mar-01 AT 01:42 AM (EST)[p]That's the aluminum manifold for the 428 PI. This is the manifold that the 428CJ iron manifold was patterned from. After the CJ was into production, the '69 and '70 PI got the iron manifold too.

Barry

P.S. I've not heard of a 427 in a PI version.

427 intake?

Thanks. I bought a motor on e-bay about a month ago. It is a 3904V 73TE bored .030, larger valves etc. He told me he put a 305 comp cam in it. I think thats a little to much for what I'm going to use this for. It's going in a 59 panel truck with original 59 F250 4x4 running gear. What do you think? I was thinking of a stock 428cj cam with this intake. TIA

The stock 428 cam is an OK choice, but I'd get a newer designed dual pattern one from Crower or Crane. Most seem to like the 268H but I went with the Crower Beast 292H, the range is 1300~3800 redline of 5300+ and gives great low-mid range torque. One guy tried several and said the Crower made the best power, but it really depends on the overall engine build.

Mike, I'll have to agree that the cam sounds a little big. Also aren't most of comps cams a single pattern? I think the FEs usually like dual pattern cams, I have one from Crane and one from CamDynamics. What trans are you going to run and what axle gears do you have? That will make a big difference. DF

I've switched from the factory 4spd to the light duty clark 5spd. I'll still have a granny low plus a 5th overdrive. The gears are stock for now at 4.56. When I get it all together it will be a semi daily driver. I'm trying to have it ready for P.F. I've been leaning toward a set of 35" tires. I don't need this thing to be to tall. The truck will be built inside and out using pure FORD parts. Thanks for all the help guys. It is greatly appreciated.
