Edelbrock F 427 intake

I have found on Craigslist a Edelbrock F 427 intake, Is this a good manifold for a truck application, eventually it will go on a 445 stroker

The F 427 is Edelbrocks version of the 428 PI intake, in FE guru Jay Brown's intake comparison tests the F 427 didn't fair too well, quite poorly actually, but after some port clean up it became a pretty solid performer (no pun intended).

If you can pick it up cheap i'd buy it just to have it, they typically go for $250-300 on ebay.

Gotta combine it with a a lumpy cam to take advantage of its design. However, the newer Performer RPM (PN 7105) will be better out of the box. Couple it with aluminum cylinder heads and you'll show the competition smaller and smaller tail lights.

Thanks for the responses, this manifold comes with a engine package I am looking at on craigslist, sounds like the best thing to do is sell it and my performer and then buy the performer rpm.

Honestly if you read Jay's book (I think I've read it 400times, lol) The F427 isn't all that far behind the Performer RPM a few hp at most.

I'd use it, just do a port match and call it good. The F427 has an exhaust crossover that the Performer RPM doesn't if that matters to you. I've run both and honestly I don't think I could really tell a difference on a 390. Maybe on a stroker it'd feel a little different, but honestly, I never really intend to run a pickup truck engine over 5000rpms anyway.

just meaning, anytime I had a question bout an intake, it's got an answer.

so perhaps "referenced 400 times" would be more appropriate :-)
