He also said the SCT was much more fun to drive with and only used it with out of the box tunes.
So, which should I but?
every truck reacts differently. maybe not EVERYYY...but, yea.

Go over to powerstroke.com and ask a forum member, 6.0****< i deleted the name cause you can search oveer there and find the info and private emale him or others for the info>, he is one guy that purchased both and then returned the sct with box tunes and kept the hypertech because he claimed it got much better mpg than the sct. There are other members I have talked to at that website that have done the same thing and went with hypertech. But, I haven't yet because of the fact that the sct isa so much more popular and that must be for some reason. Sean did comment that the sct was much more fun to drive with and made lots of smoke but he went with the hypertech because of the fuel economy. Don';t believe me, go to powerstroke and do a search.

The advantage to the SCT over any other tuner, is the ability to "Custom" tune the engine & transmission in your truck for your driving style & load. Each truck responds differently and is driven differently, No device with "canned" tunes can provide the safety & performance of a good Custom tune. Running any device with "canned" tunes is a one size fits all approach and performs poorly or marginally more times than not. This is no different than the Factory OEM tune, it is a compromise to be used by all trucks and driving styles and to meet EPA regulations. Get an SCT wit "Custom Tunes" written by Matt at Spartan or Eric at Innovative. Either one of these guys can custom tailor the tune for your specific truck, driving style and load. I prefer Matt's tunes by either one does an excellent job and have earned a very well respected reputation for custom tuning the 6.0. Call and talk with them, then choose the one you are most comfortable with.

If you do a search for Hypertech/Tuners on FTE you should get a lot of results to read. The Hypertech units have not had a good reputation as far as providing safe power increases that did not comprimise head gaskets etc, also the units do not properly address the transmission to accomodate the power increases. The recent addition of "Try before you buy" program has resulted in several members having to go to there local FMC dealer to get the PCM reflashed after the trash codes left by the Hypertech when the trial period expires resulted in the PCM to lock up and the vehicle not to function properly.

you're not making the right comparison here. you are comparing "canned tunes" to a hyperpak... blah blah...

canned tunes are not custom programmed for a SPECIFIC TRUCK STRATEGY CODE WITH SPECIFIC PARTS ... i would not use SCT canned tunes either there is no comparison between CUSTOM SCT TUNING and anything else on the market... apples to apples you know what i mean.. i'm not trying to dog hyperpak, just saying that if you are going to spend $$$ the wise choice is SCT w/custom tunes by either matt or eric, i run matt's tunes and i have never made more HP or got better MPG than with his programming !!

now go find ANYONE who has a custom tuned sct and give them the chance to try the hypercrap and i bet NO ONE gets rid of their sct... i bet you.
