my buddy has an 04 with the banks 6 gun tuner, banks intake and exhaust. he said he is makin 435 horse at the wheels, i said he was lyin and told him to get an x-cal III. he's hooked on what he reads in the magazines that the brand x (generic) stuff is good.

Tell him there's no way. Maybe with a big turbo, injectors, FASS, and better tuning. Banks will give you like 60-80 at the wheels if you're lucky. If he's bragging just tell him to start shopping for a new tranny and zip it. Banks intake is junk too. Smack him around a little. Diesel Power is NOT the best source for 6.0L info.

Brand x stuff isin't bad though. I'll never say they are the best...but they DO make money by making truck perform. Banks and BullyDog are 2 very big names. Thier stuff does work. and they sell ALOT of MODS.
Did anyone see the BullyDog.com truck on PINKS last nite? Thier truck blew a ricer away on the drag strip and then beat a gasser S-10 Chevy with a 383 stroker.
I think that episode did good things for diesel sport truck fans. I think alot of folks were surprised to see serious diesel performance at the track.

banks is overpriced. bullydog is okay, if you want to have the same "run of the mill power adder" as the next guy. the only reason companies like that sell SO MANY of their tuners is because of the advertising and sponshorship they do to get their name out there.
the only reason anyone buys brand X instead of SCT is because they dont know about SCT yet.. if you had all the facts there is no reason you would waste your money on an inferior product and risk damaging your tranny or losing to the next guy.
those who KNOW, use SCT.

actually that truck was pretty fast it had some good MPH on the top end, remember they were only running it at a little over half the boost it was capable of, and the guy didn't ever really do a good launch either.
i bet that dodge had a lot more in it that they weren't showing, but either way it was a decent show.
