Ran into alittle difficulty mounting a smooth rear bumper onto my buddies 77 F100. We use the brackets from a 68 F100, got the same mounting points on the bumper as a 77 rear bumper but the mounting holes on the frame (77 model) only alines up with one hole. I would think the bracket would be interchangeable from both models. The only measurement difference from the two trucks was the distance of the frame rails, but the bumper calls for a 40" on the 77 model and 36 1/2" on the 68. The brackets holes onto the frame is where the problem is.
Any suggestion, and does a late 70's model differ from a late 60's style brackets???
Almost 10 years difference and a body style change is bound to leave some things a little bit different.
Is popping a couple new holes not an option? Seems like that would only take a mater of minutes.
I would think you have the choice of drilling the frame, or the bracket. If one bolt holelines up already, you are most of the way there already.
75F350; That's exactly what where going too have to do; I will have to drill thru both outer bracket arm arms and frame. Also its a smooth chrome bumper so theres no towing etc.
I notice several different styles of frame hole combo's this weekend from 68 thru 78 frames. It seems like they place them (Frame mount holes) where ever they wanted.
