Double sided sticky tape removal

I have a dark green 1994 Ford F-150 XLT. I have removed the chrome around the wheel wells and also removed the plastic/rubbery striping that was down the sides. That has left two stripes of double sided sticky tape down both sides of the truck. I have tried using Goo-Gone and a pressure washer to remove it, but nothing short of a razor blade and lots of elbow grease seems to work. Does anyone have any great ideas for an easy way to remove this tape?
Thanks
Corey

it works, you have to be careful and not get it to hot, as it will bubble your paint. when i do it, i do that, and if it does not work, i let it sit in the sun for a while and use mythumb, and rub it from the edge firmly. not from the center but from a very outside edge and go in. it is slow and bothersome, on real hard stuff use a knife,to start it only, but please be very careful, knives and paint dont go togeter very well. i seen a guy have to paint a whole car because he did not use extreme caution with this method. i have never done this but a guy at the body shop used a pad made just for tape removel, on a polisher, but i have never done and probulay not wise to do unless you have lots of exp on a buffer!!! the pad can be bought at a auto paint store. trim removal is the very first thing i do when i buy a truck. i prefer the no trim look.

dont use a pressure washer, at the shop there was a guy that used a pressure, and got it off, but the only down side was is that he took the paint off to..

use lacquer thinner and a rag but be sure to wash and wax that area when your done. you could also use a clay type buffing wheel or a clay bay that they sell at auto zone.

Thers this stuff called "Goof Off." Its like goo-gone but MUCH stronger. One time I was cleaning a refridgerator with it and it started eating the plastic away. and it even started to dissolve the towel. Its srtong stuff.

Sometimes kerosene is good for tape glue residues and kontact glue, and afterwords clean whith acetone.

Drive it down a dusty road until it's good and coated (nothing else sticks to it then), then let it set in the sun until it's real warm, if possible use a hair dryer (not a heat gun unless you are real careful on the back side of the metal. Get a corner started and start rolling like you are building a snow man. Not as fast as building Frosty, but I was able to get mine off and clean up with a rag and paint thinner. The rag and thinner before just smeared stuff. It's about a 12 pack job.
Good Luck,

Dave

Stripe erasers work well. It's a white rubber wheel that you chuck in a drill or low speed grinder and will take off the tape but not the paint. Another trick I just learned the other day is to grab the end of the tape and stretch it rather than trying to peel it off. Seems to let loose pretty easily. (May not work so well on 13yr old adhesive though...)

The best and safest solvent to use by far is naptha (lighter fluid). It is a natural solvent for most of those sticky type glues plus it won't usually hurt the paint.

Zylene can be very effective, but really bad on paint.
