Double sided sticky tape removal
So, I went with the WD-40 (because that is what i had on hand) and it worked REALLY good. I let it soak for about 10 minutes then i used the razorblade to scrape it off and it came off super easy. I also picked up a can of the Goof-Off Extreme to use on the left over sticky glue. Thanks for all the good tips guys i really appreciate all the help!
Goof of was not strong enough to remove the left over adhesive. So i took my electric sander to it (and some other rust spots) and then primed over it, so i know i have a gray stripe down each side of my truck until i get time to prime the whole thing.
Tried every item in this post...did not work at all...a gooey mess. HERE'S WHAT WORKS. First--get one of those metal single razor blade holders to apply correct pressure to your work. Second--get a can of LIQUID WRENCH SILICONE SPRAY in
red and white spray can (walmart, etc...cheap). Spray the 'track' of sticky leftover tape
glue...wait couple beats and then use the metal razor blade holder (like you use to scrape paint off glass, etc) and turn it over so pressure is greatest 'downwards' along
the truck rails...where the sticky tape is. Just 'move' that blade along...have a roll of
paper towels...and that sticky tape turns into a big dirty sticky worm-like string....wipe the lumps TOWARDS the truck bed (not towards wheels) which lets you
'swipe' those lousy sticky worms right off. Spritz with more and do second run but the first run will take most of that crummy stuff off. Keep razor blade area wet with
more silicone and careful NOT TO dig your blade in on 'edge' or one can nick the paint. I just did my 83 4x4 Ranger rails and they look slick as new. Polish the rails with soft clean cloth to finalize.

Yup. Took all the factory graphics off a Ranger with that, the ones that went front the front all the way to rear of the bed, i think it was a STX package. Huge stripes.. after sitting overnight the adhesive rubbed off practically just by looking at it. Didn't damage the paint. I did peel the film off first and just wiped down the adhesive that was left, which was all of it.
