El cheapo trailer light replacements!!
Get the ones with the ground wire(it will have 3 wires stop/signal,running lights and ground) Run the trailer wires into light housing put dielectric grease in those heatshrink butt splice and the socket. I made a little plastic bracket that I bolt to the housing and that flange on the pigtail socket, or else it will flop around and melt the lens. I also spray the inside of the housing with cold galvanizing paint to protect the metal and add reflectivity!! I had a couple sets of bearing buddies stolen at the ramp, so I just drill a hole and put a zerk fitting in the bearing cap. A couple pumps every now and then and you know you got some fresh in there!!
where the light housing bolts to and put it on that bolt or drill and put a nut and bolt thru the frame then a washer and then the ring terminal for the trailer light. Make sure to liberally apply dielectric grease to all connections. I personally run a two wire disconnect(trolling motor one) and have a good ground from the truck and I put a switch in the cab with
a fog light on the back of the trailer. It is good for backing at night especially in tight
boat ramps, I leave the mounts a little loose so I can swivel it around to change tires on the side of the road. I did this because I got into shrimping hardcore and of course
the best time to shrimp is at midnight usually on an outgoing tide!! But anybody can use a back up/utility light.
