Please help ID this engine

Hello all,
Please help ID this engine. The intake manifold says C9AE9425-B. The back of the block has a '352'. I haven't been able to find any other numbers.

Thanks,
Glenn

check for a casting number on the cylinder head between the center two spark plugs. Also try taking out a spark plug and putting a small diameter wooden dowel in the hole and marking it at the shallowest and deepest points in goes in while the engine is cranked over by hand, this will give the stroke of the engine which will say whether it's a 352/360 (3 1/2") or a 390 (3 3/4")

You need to look on the passenger side of the engine for the block ID. Also knowing what vehicle it came out of would help. Some FE motors are hard to I.D. Except for 73-76 truck blocks almost all FEs say 352 on the front of the block.

I found a 'C7AE-A' on the passenger side of the block. It came from a '72 F-100, but I don't know if this is the original engine.

if I am not mistaking that casting # is of a 427. But I doubt that you have a 427, probably a 360 or 390. if you have the engine tor down find the casting on the crankshaft and post it. If it is still together the best thing to do is mesure the stroke. just remove the spark plugs(you will need to remove all of them to turn the engine)and then stick a wooden dowl down the spark plug hole till you hit the piston. then turn the engine(with a ratchet on the front pully bolt)untill the piston is at it's lowest point(BDC)mark the stick. then turn the engine till the piston is at it's highest point(TDC)and mark it. mesure the distance between the marks. 3.50 inches = 360, 3.78 inches = 390

the only problem is that ford used the same external castings for several engine blocks but the insides were different

Intake Manifold

I have a 1972 360 with the intake number: D3TE9425A1A
I want to use it on a 1971 360 that formerly had an intake number: C9AE9425-B
Wondering if anyone knows if it will work. Both F250

Should work just fine. Beware the weight. Check the fit on the China walls vs. the heads so you can avoid leaks. Many people post here about not using gaskets on the China walls.

Intake manifold is correct for '72 2 barrel 390 pickup truck engine. But the block is way earlier. '68 was the last model year that used C7AE-A marked FE blocks. Sounds like you have a mutt ;-)
