I am wondering what a 1979 Ford Supercab 3/4 ton 4x4 is worth. It has a large winch and chrome winch bumper. It has a 400 engine with an automatic transmission. It also is a long box. Overall condition is excellent with no visable rust. Milage is unknown. Just looking for a ball park number to go by. Maybe you could tell me also how rare of a truck this is. I don't see many supercabs around that are four wheel drive and a f-250. Thanks
I read your other thread. First thing I would do is check model of the front axle. If it has kingpins instead of balljoints, and hubs that are about 1" wider in diameter than the typical Dana 44 (and does not have large bolts) I would snap that truck up. If it is a Dana 44, I would give about 1K for the truck where I live. In some places that same truck is worth 2k+ Do older 4x4's sell for a crazy amount of money?
Also, if your heart is set on makng your 2WD a 4WD, this is EXACTLY what you need. Try to talk the guy down a few bucks, make sure the drivetrain is in good shape, and bring money.

I have a 78 f150 supercab 4x4 that sits like a 3/4 ton truck. It too is in clean shape w/ a 400 and 4 speed manuel non California. I paid 3k 2 years ago and have been offered 3k recently. I would approximate under 5k depending on the number of "true" blue oval 4x4 enthusiast arownd your area. The SC is a beast and so is the Crew Cab so many of its owners are people who look for these rigs. Theres another member on here w/ a show room SC that I would offer 10k right now for it, cant remember his name but its orange and off white.

Thanks for all the info so far. I will have to find out what front end is in it. I am guessing that the front end is just the standard Dana 44. The truth of the matter the truck itself is in just fair condition. The front bumper and winch are nice, but the rest of the body if in my opinion shot. However, the drive train is in good shape and the truck seems to run strong. I have another one that is in very nice condition but 2wd (with bad engine). So I am planning on doing a body swap. I am just trying to figure out if it is really worth the time and effort.
