I was wondering if any one had any advice or photos on instaling a oil bypass filter.. has any one used the amsoil 2 filter set up that mounts fits right in the old full flow filter threds?/
is it true I can use the spare hole on the oil cooler for the out flow? where did you all rought your return?? thank J you all are the best h
ive got the amsoil twin filter setup on both trucks, ive got them mounted on the passanger side frame rail i made a piece to stand it off the inside rail i did need to get a pillow block to mount the two hoses to the crossmember right infront of the oil pan. i did have to weld that on. the pillow block you can pickup anywhere you can get hydraulic parts one for -8 hose fits. i run the largest of the bypass filter which is the eabp110 and i think the full flow is eao26 i'll see if i can get some pics
thanks jake. so the model you have replaces the existing full flow filter? do you think that is better? or should I look at just adding a by pass filter. I would love to see some pics if you get around to it.

I dont have a system yet I' m still trying to figuer out which one makes sence for me. thanks J
thanks, nice pics.. so it looks like you ran the lines from the brass fitting above the stock filter on the cooler.. is there also a port for the return line on our truckd or did you have to put it in??
thank J
Yeah thats my truck before I got the bottom side all clean and shiny like the top! that was all left from my leaks before I got the truck. now its pretty clean except for the weep I have at the rear main. BOOOOO
great pics! I think that is how I want to run my lines.. did your kit come with the right sized fittings? or did you have to pick them up seperate? do you remember the sizes?
How did it work mounting the filter behind the transfer case? it seems like there is a lot of room back there but it is a long run with the hoses. is there such a thing as too far to run the hoses?/ thanks for all the great info J
All the supplies I had in the shop. I used 1/4 hydraulic hose. on my CC about 4 foot each way. I used JIC fittings front and back with JIC to pipe thread to fit it all. The pressure port is 1/8 pipe and the return I can't remember. I went thru this in another thread but for the life of me I can't remember what size the return is. its either 1/4 or 3/8ths. The filter came with the bracket to mount it and I just used 4 self drilling/self tapping screws to go up thru a sheet metal support under the cab, not the cab floor itself.
yeah mine replaces the full flow too, i just liked the way the full replacement was setup seemed to be a cleaner install than the other way. i would run the oilgaurd if i didnt run what i got.
Well now all I have to do is make a dissision on which unit to buy. thanks for all the good info. Jake Ive been a bit worried about the seals on the fitting that screws on to the stock full flow filter mount? it looks alittle susspect to me...
I'm also not sure what you meant by a pillow block? is it to keep the hoses from rubbing? thanks . hope all you and your 4 footed friend are well in tx
ive had mine on without leaks for 8years on the 97 and 6 years on the 00 no leaks
i had a brain fart its not called a pillow block its a mount to hold 2 lines its a piece of plastic with 2 holes in it cut in half and theres a plate on one side the bolt goes through the plate the plastic block then into another piece of plate thats threaded to hold the lines in place they always seem to be green plastic any hydraulics shop will have them, im gonna try to get a pic tommorow

I have the same setup TJ has and like it. Filters are cheap, if you decide to go with the Franz pm me and I can help you get 10-20 bucks off. Should be about 160 with shipping, if you provide the oil lines to the block. The website says 3k between oil filter changes but I think 1k for a 15 quart system is more like where it should be. If you can wait in about 2-3 weeks I will have oil sample reports back from my first filter. I had about 1000 miles on my oil, took an oil sample, put the franz in ran to 2000 miles and took a sample now I am sending them both in to blackstone that way I can get a line by line to see how well it works.
