6637 mod done, what about mass air flow sensor???

Ok so I did the mod this weekend, now I am left with two sensors dangling. The vac. sensor, and the mass air flow sensor. I know how to mount the vac sensor, but what did you guys do with the mass air flow sensor( I am assuming this is what the other sensor is located on the filter box)? The cable is to short to try and put it on the end of the filter or to relocate it to the air suction piping. Or do I not have to worry about it at all? I currently just have the mass air flow sensor dangling in the engine compartment zip tied off so it doesn't bounce around to much.

One tip I did find from this weekend is, if you use a small amount of motor oil on the inside of your air suction hose when tryying to slide it over the end of the 6637 filter it works wonders, it took less than a minute and no cussing to get the hose over the filter.

Thanks for the information in advance

I believe that is the air intake temp sensor and most just zip tie it like you did.

Soapy water works too and then just evaporates.

Yep, there's no mass air flow sensor on these trucks. They just suck in as much air as you can give them.

I agree that the soapy water is best. The oil can cause the boot to slide off and let unfiltered air in.

Thanks for the quick replies. I didn't even think about using the water, I will definantely be redoing it with soapy water when I get home, I did have some worries about it slipping off.

I second that - avoid any type of lubricant to assist in the installation. I found the easiest way to install the boot onto the filter was to remove the boot from the truck.
Completly degrease the contact areas or it will slide off. Put one arm inside the boot like a sleeve and then use both hands to work the boot onto the filter. Clamp it down. Install the filter and boot assembly back on the truck as one piece.
