I got tired of crawling half-way (well almost) under my 5er to open the gray water dump valves and decided to install replacement valves with the long cables. One minor problem. The replacements leak, no matter how much I tightened the flange bodies. Since I didn't have much play when I replaced the valves, I have a hunch the seals didn't quite seat right. Anyone ever replace these valves and find a short cut (or long cut) that worked ?
If they leak no matter what, I would get some that you can glue in like PVC. It's all plastic anyway.
Maybe just bridge the gap where the valves are and move the valves down to where you can reach them without having to use the cable style.
I have the electric ones in my trailer and it's the biggest complaint that I have about mine. I've had to have them fixed twice already. Thank God I bought an extended warrenty. I would much rather have manual valves and if/when they quit again and it's off warrenty, the bottom cover is coming off and it's getting converted.
Just a follow up on this. I removed the valves and cut out about 3/8" of drain pipe to give me some play. Glued the joints together using a sleeve and re-installed the valves. Having a little play was all I needed to get those pesky seals seated. And I'm happy to report- NO leaks !
