I have a superchips flashpac 1805 that I bought for my 04 6.0 over a year ago. I updated the tuner about 6 months ago after getting a new flash from ford. After the update, I lost power and the engine didn't run as smooth as before. One good thing about the update was that now the flashpac could be used for all powerstroke engines from 99.5-07.
I unloaded the program from the 04, and loaded the TOW SAFE tune into my 03 F-550 7.3. I really like the extra power, but on the first trip out I got a CEL with a code of 1282-excessive ICP. After another 100 miles, another code of 1211-ICP not controllable pressure above desired. Now at first I was at around 30,000 gross weight, but at the end of the day I was around 17,000lbs and still getting the CEL after pulling slight grades.
I posted my problems on the superchips forum, and they tell me that the ICP has nothing to do with tuning, the say it's low oil level or low viscosity. I had the oil changed at Ford the next day, 15-40 motorcraft, and a new fuel filter. I always get the oil changed every 3,000 miles because I idle a lot, and run this thing pretty hard. The truck has about 109,000 miles on it. Well after another 30,000 lb load I am getting the same CEL with the same codes. I know that if I unload the tune I will not have CEL's. Does anyone know what is going on? BTW I am going to get a xcal 2 from Matt at Spartan for the 04
This is a common thing when chipping and tuning the 7.3. Tunes increase power by tailoring the injector timing and injector oil pressure depending on the tune and brand. The PCM sees values outside the normal stock parameters and it triggers a code. As long as it is a soft code and the truck runs fine then you should be OK. If it does it all of the time, even unloaded and in stock tune, then you may have a problem.
I had both of those codes, and a few others when I thrashed my truck on the strip.

The truck runs fine, I was just wondering if I was going to hurt anything by continuing to run this tune. I would really like to get EGT and boost gauges for this truck. I am impressed with the superchip programmer on the 7.3 so far. Thanks for the reply.
