He really shouldn't have to get a chip to solve an issue that was caused by a TSB reflash by Ford. Thats the whole deal. Didn't do it before the reflash now it does. Does Ford have any way to reinstall the previous flash?
cant go back, the scanner will only program the latest update, and they are done via lanline everytime the scanner is hooked to the docking station. the only way to go back in updates i can figure is to reload an old program into the WDS without having it docked. this requires someone at the dealer who isnt a moron (good luck) they have to load the dvd into it and hook up the keyboard to do this. then you might be able to flash an earlier program into the truck. next problem is you dont know what program was in the truck. there have been countless updates for obs trucks since 97, you dont know which one will make his truck happy.
long story short the dealer has no control over the programs ford issues and really cant change it legaly. if they can, most guys there dont have the knowhow to do it.
OH one more thought.....IF you can still get AS BUILT data from ford on your truck you could wipe the pcm to a blank box and manually program it back to the first program when it rolled off the assembly line. This is the only sure fire way to get what you want. guranteed to work. only problem is ford only carries AS BUILT for 10 years, you may not be able to access the info you need to program the pcm manually. a call to the ford technical service hotline will be needed by the ford tech to see if corprate ford still stores the inof, i know the dealer does not
lol, low blow. i put a good bit of effort inot my work while there, the dealer and ford tied my hands on alot of things but for the most part i took pride in my work
It's kinda sad that dealerships screw up things when its not nessary sometimes, Because some punk kid got spit out of a tech school with just passing grades, and doesn't care about what hes doing.
Same as in mechanic places elsewhere.
Do a job if you like it. Don't waste others time if you cannot do it right.
Yea, really sounds like you need to reprogram the chip.
I was thinking that if you could hook a computer up to it and program in numbers as its running you would be able to tweak it out. but, i'm a bit behind on that technology even being a computer guy. ! (sorry guys. =*( )
A hot chip for his vehicle burnt for him will probably solve all the problems.
I'd just keep taking it back to the dealership once a week till they fix it. Just be a pain in the ***.

Joe it not a low blow. I didn't say anything about the mechanics. I said the dealership. I know how corporate wrenching works. The tech can only do what the boss allows. Thats why nobody touched my truck but me. most just don't have the option.
I would bring the truck back to the dealership and tell them what is going on. its their problem just don't let them charge you anything! If they do send your PCM to DP tuner they can fix it for you for like $75 I think.
Just a thought, if the flash did up pressure somewhere it could have blown out an already weak ipr o-ring??? I would pull it and check it before getting into it with the dealer. All you need is a 3/4" wrench and an 1 1/8" box end wrench, takes 5 minutes to pull it and check it out. Just my $.02
With ICP unplugged it was starting UP just fine and Idled great.
Threw an checkengine ligh like supposed to.
So I will run a few check on ICP and replace it.
