Leaking differential cover

Leaking differential cover
I need to fix this. What sealer should I use? What's the bolt torque?

Any help is appreciated!! Thanks.

I've always used RTV blue and never bought an actual gasket. never had any problems

speaking of this i just noticed today that my rear diff is showing (or maybe has for some time) a "wet" area - if that makes sense. i'm going to re-tq bolts tom. but would this be the culprit?

Yeah. Mine showed slight seepage, but progressed to a larger area. Nothing dripping to the ground, but what the heck, cheap fix with cleaning and some RTV Blue.


Besides, got 50,000 miles. A gear oil change wouldn't hurt now.

Perfect, thanks Guy. That's what mine is doing. I was going to clean the back end up and spray 'er up so I'll just add that to the list.
