Talking Removing Muffler

Just bought a 08 Lariat and have about 1500km's (950 miles) on it and really like it. I bought it with a 6" lift and 37's. I will post pics after I get a couple more things done.

Anyways

Has anyone removed just the Muffler and put in a chunk of pipe? If so how does it sound and have you any warrenty issues? my service advisor said it's probably fine to do but wanted another opinion or to. I would really like to make this thing sound a little better.

I haven't personaly, but from everything that I've read from the ones that have you get no sound difference or hardly any sound difference unless you remove the DPF entirely. And either way, I can't remember off the top of my head if the MRBP duals goes from the DPF back or from the Muffler or what, but if its from the DPF back then im pretty sure that voids your warranty from what ive heard and seen, and throws codes on some trucks but if you can play then you gotta pay i guess..

There is no gain in performance, i put the MBRP cat back which has no muffler and did'nt change the sound, i just changed mine because the MBRP looks alot better than the stock tailpipe ends.

As for your warranty question, my service rider's comment was this, "ANY" change to the exhaust will void warranty to the exhaust or other engine component or the engine its self if found to be the cause of faliure. They are under heavy scrutiny from ford on these issues.

The tailpipe ends are considered a working component to the engine exhaust to disapate heat from the exhaust and the engine.

If you do make a change hang onto all the factory parts, the factory cat-back and tail end piping cost around 800.00 to replace. Plus, if you need to go in for work, i would put it back factory and not take a chance.

Dont touch the cat of DPF, ever person i have seen here on this site has had problems with mods to these items.

Hope this helps, good luck

I ran 4" after the DPF filter to a nice 5" tip and it looks much cleaner IMO, although there is no sound diffrence or even performance that I notice.
