Well, trucks running pretty good( besides my vacuum pump) only thing is white smoke at idle! I've researched countless threads, had the injector lines, fuel filter and o rings replaced, finally found the NEW o ring leak and fixed it, haven't dropped the tanks yet but thought I could adjust the timing (advance) and turn the pump up! It seems to have decent power and runs great at highway speed ( 2500 rpm at 75-80) but I'd hate to have more power and not take advantage of it! BTW, I do have a pyro, so I can see my egt's. Whatta you guys think? Oh yeah, I don't see any black smoke when I get on it either! I cut my muffler off but I don't have any special intake( I have a banks turbo with the big square box for the filter)sounds like an old gasser I also just put some diesel kleen in it but don't notice a difference. Sorry for the long read
Dave is probably busy out digging dirt or whatever people who do "real work" do during most of the day. Please be patient...someone will be along soon to offer some real help soon.
Are you losing any coolant? Do you hear a rattle which goes away when the fast idle kicks off?
I got rid of my smoke at Idle by replacing my injectors- they had 150K miles on them and did not pop test very well. How many miles are on your injectors?? If low, you need to be adding a lubricant additve to start with, see if that helps. Also white smoke could be retarded timing. As previous post asked, do you have a diesel rattle when cold that goes away when warmed up? (a good sign that timing is about right)!
WOW! Sorry Tbone, I work on railroad cars here in so cal, and happen to be doing the billing today, so if railroading isnt REAL work than I dont know what is? Anyway, not sure if im losing coolant, no leaks and dont really notice a rattle, but havent been listenin for one. I have 127000 mi. and injectors are probly oe. My egt's seem normal, around 3 to 5 at hwy speeds, dont know where thermocouple is.
Thanks for the response guys, will check these things today and post soon..
I am removing the basement from a house with flood damage to the basement walls.
There was a 30" culvert under the house that stopped up, the water blew a hole up into the crawl space under the house and took one wall out.
The house leaned over almost 6" when the wall blew out.
Today I got everything back to level, the new block piers are built, the new steel beam is under the house.
Tomorrow I have to finish the block piers so I can set the house back down on them Friday.
This one is easy, it is a wood frame house with wood siding.
Last winter I took the basement out from under a brick house 30' x 80' to replace the footers while the homeowner was living in it.
Building a house from the bottom up is to easy.
I like a challange so I do mine from the top down.
I used to work in the TOFC COFC yard for the Burlington Northern in Denver.
That was a boring job.
Now I have much more fun working in the dirt.
We do all forms of excavation for anything that needs dirt moved.
We also do some other stuff like the prep work to replace basements and footers under existing structures and Keystone retaining walls.
I take the jobs they say can't be done.
I say, if you have enough money, I can build anything.
