From the website <b>"Ford cares."</b>

Ford cares alright - it cares about jumping on the latest public opinion bandwagon.

As many men die of prostate cancer as women who die of breast cancer. So where is Ford's "Caring" prostate cancer program? Like most everyone else, they couldn't care less 'cause it's not the current cause-célebre that makes them look good.

But Ford does not deserve to be singled out. One could argue that a business can't really be faulted for doing whatever increases sales.

According to the National Prostate Cancer Coalition:

http://70.84.59.4/~pcacoal/advocacy_research_home.htm

...AIDS research receives more than $2.5 billion in federal dollars. Breast cancer research will receive about $870 million next year. Compare that to $485 million for prostate cancer research....

National Institutes of Health - graph:
% of total cancer cases that are prostate cancer: ~15%
% of NIH cancer research dedicated to prostate cancer: ~5%

That's right guys - you're being left to die while the big public opinion-making machine focusses everyone's attention on breast cancer. Even here on FTE.

Good news I guess.

What I don't understand is why everyone jumps on the cancer bandwagon. Especially the breast cancer thing with women. Heart disease kills more women each year than breast cancer.

I don't know why we go after the #2 cause before the #1 cause.

Well it's easy to criticize... but they are doing something.

Individuals make the difference. Someone is affected by one disease or another and they start up their own bandwagon. Some people were obviously able to sway Ford's decision making to help out with breast cancer.

Right here on FTE we have a "folding" thread, which uses our computers unused computing power to aid a Stanford research project doing cancer research. It's basic stuff that requires massive computing power and we are helping. You can too if you care, it costs nothing but electricity to run your computer. This research will help with all cancers and maybe many diseases.

Here's our link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-part-2-a.html

By the way, FTE is doing really well. We are now in the top one percent of contributing groups. Feel free to join up and help out. Once you get started it requires no further effort.
