WIN XP wont load, bad checksum
My freind asked me to look at his girl's mom's computer.....
Its a 4-5 year old Dell and wont load windows. The screen says bad checksum.
She also told me that the computer wont keep time.
I'm thinking its a battery issue, but will that also fix the checksum error?
I Have the option of going into the bios, when I exit the Bios, the puter hangs on the first XP screen

Replace the cmos battery. It is what keeps the time, as well as other settings, when the machine is powered off. A low cmos battery will also give you a bad checksum message. Should run about $15.00 or so,,,
