Well my question is if i get a viper alarm system with door lock/unlock will it work because i have manual locks? I know it sounds like a stupid question but please help me. is there any other brands out there that wont mess up my truck? i just want something reliable. and i also want autostart.

Reason: Forgot Something
You can get door lock actuators and install them in addition to the alarm and do it that way. Its pretty simple to addition. Basically, its a small actuator that you mount in the door and connect a rod to the door lock wire and wire up 2 wires into the alarm brain for lock/unlock. It can be done. Pretty easy too.
scottps,
well if you read all of my post you would have realized that i was asking if there are any other reliable brands, and if it would screw something up bad. Now can you help me?
Just about any alarm place has the remote lock actuators. I’ve seen them advertised for $75 a door installed. You may find it cheaper if you look around. As far as brand I’m sure they’ll all work for what you want and I’m sure they are reliable.
You might want to look and see what it would take to add the factory lock actuators to your truck. It would make for a cleaner and more reliable installation.
As far as brands go, I wouldn't get the DEI units. You are paying for the name. I have a Viper 791xv in my Mustang and while it is a nice unit and has been reliable, I think that there are better ones out there. I have a ScyTek 5100RS-2W in my Explorer as well as a couple of other vehicles that my family/friends own and they are great. The remote will tell you the time, temp of the vehicle, status as well as being able to put it in valet mode remotely.
No it wont screw anything up bad. I would recommend DEI units. I have one on my truck and havent had any issues. I used to install them also..they are a pretty reliable unit. Guess my first post wasnt what you were looking for...

I have worked in the auto aftermarket industry for 7 years now. I have worked with DEI, Code alarm, audiovoxx, black widow, compustar. I have had the best luck with DEI. They make viper, clifford, valet, avital, hornet, python. They have by far the best tech support in the industry. I would deffinatelly stay away from any of the no name brands on ebay. I would also stay away from Bull dogg. The door locks are easy to do, shouldn't take more than an extra hour.
