Seeing that, I think I'd try and use it, and forget the homebuilt ones I was referring to. A few gussets to keep that all from flexing and tieing it into the frame should be ok. Not sure about the inner fenders, as they move a little too, but it looks doable.
I was plannin on makin the inner fenders seperate just like before. I'm goin to make an access hole to work on the struts and for alignment purposes. I really think it will work. I also thought some of you guys might like the idea????
YEP, the towers will be under the "custom" inner fenders.(theoretically) I havent gotten that far yet, I've been workin on everyone else's junk!! I am anxious to work on my junk.

When you get started on your own "junk" will you keep us posted with pictures of the IFS install? I've been intrigued by this idea ever since I first read the thread on using the t-bird IRS. If you can use the rear end why not the front end. I think this will be a great set up! To be able to use the front, the rear, the tranny and engine out of one donor you can pick up for aroud $500 is absolutely great. I'm excited about getting started on this for my truck.
Yes sir!!!! I'll definately take many picts!! and post them, after I figure out how!!! I've had a terrible time posting picts I don't know how all you guys do it?? Anyway, I will do a good job on the step by step documentation of the process!! I think it would work great. I tell all my friends here at the shop, if you buy a donor car the more you use, the better off you are. If you get a whole car, thats suitable. You can use almost everything. I bought this 93 Cougar, for $100, it was on fire, but the engine is fine, and so is almost everything else. I'm goin to have to replace the whole right side "leg" (strut assembly, and A-frame), but I think it is goin to be really cool!!! If we figure out how to post picts, we might post some picts in my gallery of my buddy's Mustang project (a 1968 body on a 1995 GT floor pan and frame structure) with all the EFI and all. WHO WEEEE!!! alot of work but well worth it!
I have thought about this as well but I would want to go with a newer T-bird and use the 4.6L, inner front sheetmetal and firewall. This will give a nice tight fitment of the motor to the fire wall, hanging pedals, firewall mounted brake booster and a bit more leg room becasue if I remember right the fire wall to wheel center-line of the T-birs is shorter than an F1's fire wall to C-L. It would be nice to have a bit more interior room on my F1. Also it will make the wiring a factory plug in set up with a few snips here and their.
The IRS thread is a few pages back, look for it. As for keepin the firewall, I dont' think that would work cause of the realtionship of the engine to the centerline. Yes it's true, its farther forward, but it might put the engine out too far and would interfere with the placement of the radiator?? I'm not 100 percent sure of that, cause I've not thought that much about that scenario? But I will keep everyone updated, as soon as I can get started.
Go to the "search this forum" tab on the top right side of the forum page. Search IRS and the thread you want will come up on the list. It is titled "an alternative way to do IRS with Ford rear". Great thread, lots of good info!
