I put led's into my dash, and they do dim just a tiny bit, then blank out. However, since I'm only running 1 bulb led's and not the fancy 4-in-1 bulbs, I actually like them all the way up.
The reason why they're not too bright is that the single bulb projects in only one direction and that's towards the back face of the dash. The gauges are usually side lit by the incandescent bulbs.
Mine work great. Not too bright, and not too dim. Furthermore, the light is white, not yellow, or actually green (because of the blue lightbulb cover I have since removed). It's a real nice, consistent light.
I just took the green "bubble" off mine, and they are plenty bright now, also put the old circut plastic from the back of the old to the new. Had to have the high beam indicator and park brake light in the right spot.
I just put 2 blue led's behind my gauges. they look real good and make the speedo needle really glow! Only drawback is that they aren't too bright driving through the city, but ona dark highway they're great! I'm gonna get a few more to do the a/c control light and the rest behind the cluster. I'm curious as to which bulbs light the gauges tho? I replaced the 2 middle ones closest to the speedo but do I have to replace allof them to make it brighter? Or is there another way??
According to that guy's website, the 5x led bulbs will work with the stock dimmer, which if that's true, solves the "LED's don't dim" issue. Granted, the kit costs twice as much, but I'm probably going to give it a try.
