have a new f150 4.2 litre. I changed the original factory oil today and it had a very dark green tint to it...just wondering if thats normal color? ..Second I replaced the oil with motorcraft oil using 6 qts as stated in my manual. I started checked for proper pressure let the truck sit for half an hour checked it again and and found it to be registering at only half on the dipstick or half a quart low......is this normal or does this motor actually take 6.5 qts..........truck was sitting level when i checked it also...........confused?????
Dark green or just an off gold color?
The 4.2 takes 6 quarts;no more,no less.Mine registers the same when I check it.BTW,I let Ford do my oil changes. For $24.95 + tax they do the oil change, lube all hinges, top off any fluids as needed,(usually only the wiper fluid)check for any mechanical defects, check tire pressure, etc. For that price it beats me dragging out all the BS to change it!
