Cool Broke into the Excursion

After we finished eating dinner at resteraunt tonight, I walked outside and found the Ex had been broken into, the driver side door handle was broken, I know that Super-Duties and Excursions are easy to break into because of their handles.
This really sucks and what can be done to prevent this from happening again.
There was also an F-250 in the same parking lot and had been broken into the same way my Excursion was, the owner of that truck said it was the 3rd time it had been broken into, all of them happening the same way, through the driver door handle. The owner of the F-250 told me there is some type of kit to put on the handles, apperantly he hasn't one these kits on himself.

Any advice will help

There are also some billet replacement handles that are solid metal, but they're not cheap. Here's a link to another thread on the same issue frm the other day... I have links and pictures posted in the thread that show how the handles look and where you can find them.

Yeah it does suck. Out of all the crap I have in the Excursion they stole a small case that holds my Diebetic supplies, but interestingly they did not still the glucometer, they also stole some new clothing we had just bought tonight and the wifes sunglasses. Those *******s, my door handle is screwed up so I'll be ordering a new one sometime soon probably along with those Jimmi' Jammers to prevent this crap from happening again.
Stewart thanks alot for the Jimmi' Jammer website.

That would definitely have hurt my feelings...maybe an alarm?

Mine's so sensitive they touch it and it goes off, literally.

My installer also put a couple of blinking LED's in the dash/window so it's OBVIOUS that there is an alarm. Also, if someone tampers with it, it WILL beep your remote/remote start thingie so that you know. I would say that it's worth the money.
Check my gallery under Electronics.

Good thing it didn't happen around here to some of my redneck buddies and they caught them. They would have shot them, stuffed them and mounted the fuc*ers over the fireplace with some damn Deer antlers on their foreheads!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the system cost you?

I dont mind but frankly I don't know. I bought a bunch of stuff together and paid it all at one time. I still haven't gotten a receipt so I have no idea what each part costs.

I'll give you the number to the installer if you want to ask him..

I'm very happy with just about everything. All the stuff in the electronics folder in my gallery cost me around 3k but that's all I know

As far as those Jimmi' Jammers, they should work good with the stock door handles, because I like the look of the painted handles and don't really want to go with aftermarket handles.

That Jimmy stuff is a great idea though. Never heard of it before. I would still consider the alarm and remote though

You're welcome.

I've had that site saved for quite some time. I plan on buying those backing plates when I finally get around to fixing the door lock actuators.

My 5 yr old daughter has type 1 diabetes... I hope you were able to get home for some more stuff. I also hope the junkie who broke in your ride decides to shoot up some insulin and has a nice crash when his blood sugar dropsdown to nothing... Maybe it'll happen when the dumb^%$ breaks in the next ride! Serve them right! He might even kill himself not knowing what he's putting in his body.

My favorite quote is...

"Life is Hard. It's even harder when you're STUPID!"

Sorry bout your ride man... Get some of the new bullet style ones and sharpen up your ride! Something good might come out of the whole experience.

I had the same thing happen to me. We were pulling a trailer and had to park behind a Hooters one night and they tried to pry the door handle off which dented the door. Luckily my alarm went off and scared the scum suckers away. I have aftermarket alarms on both my vehicals and while they cant stop someone from bashing in the window and stealing your laptop with along with a thousand dollars cash......Sorry but that really happened to me in my Mini cooper...it will alert someone thats there is a problem.

I am going to post this again............ it works.

The little red theft light that flashes in the instrument cluster can't even be seen from outside the Excursion. It is useless and scares nobody.

Go on eBaY and locate and purchase a VARAD LL104 red flashing LED alarm light. Drill a small hole and install it somewhere near or under the headlight switch. It can be seen from 1/2 mile away, flashes extremely bright, and will scare off most of these effin crackheads in a heartbeat.

(The VARAD LL104 can be used with or without a real alarm system)

eBaY example...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VARAD-LL-RE-SUPER-BRIGHT-RED-FLASHING-LED-for-ALARM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33713QQihZ007QQit emZ170152418341QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
