Exclamation Yes, another oil filter question!

Hey, got a '04 F150 and im about to change my oil/filter tomorrow for the first time. I see that I have to get MC 5W20 syn-blend, but is the Motorcraft filter FL820 OR 820S? Is there a difference? Speedy answers would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

P.S What should I know about these standard threads and Full Flow filters?

You want the "S". It's a newer version with a silicone antidrainback valve.

There are some subtle differences between the FL820 and FL820S, the FL820 is the ford racing filter.

As mentioned, go with the FL-820S filter. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've seen a "regular" FL-820 filter on the shelf at the auto parts store, only the FL-820S model.

Which engine? I know the 5.4L takes 7 quarts. I believe the others are 6 quarts, but don't hold me to that.

That is because NeXtras is talking about the 2v triton motor, which does use 6 quarts. You have the 3v triton motor. It takes 7 quarts. This is the motor I have and I've changed my own oil with 7 quarts since new.

The 3V 5.4L is used on the 04+ trucks.
