I have a few different noises that I have not been able to determine what they are or for some where specifically they are coming from. The first noise is a rattle type noise that sounds like it is coming from under the dash on the passenger side of the cab. The second noise is a knocking type noise, it knocks 2-4 times at a time and seems primarily aftr hitting a bump in the road. It usually doesn't happen on larger bumps more often on smaller bumps. And the third noise, I have been best able to descride it as similar to the grinding you hear when you grind the gears on a manual transmission. This third noise is never constent, however when it do occur its usually during acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear, sometimes higher, it varies in length, and will stop if i let of the throttle. My truck is an '04 with 6.0L and Auto tranny. Any help determining the source and how the fix any of my noises would be great. Thanks for any help.

Might be the bearings in the read-end.
Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? I've had them rub against the firewall or elsewhere when the engine torques and make a similar noise.

Hi having same noise when hitting bumps sounded like box liner or tonneau cover tried putting weight in box and foam padding under tonneau bars still there any ideas
Two out of my three noises have benn taken care of, the one under the dash just went away. The grinding noise was the Transmission, it was the oneway ratchet clotches. they were not strong enough for the 6.0 motor till 05. The bumping noise. I have a tonneau cover but no bed liner and I still have this bumping noise when hitting bumps. I have been told this is due to the bushings for the sway bar going bad I have not got underthere yet to do some inspecting but I have a buddy with a 01 f250 7.3L that has the same problem. Give that a look Hope it helps.
