Clear Coat
Anyone have any good secrets on how to remove clear coat from chrome? I have a 96 f150 and the clear coat is all white and peeled in some places so i want to remove it and polish the mirrors up so they shine again..

no they are the old style mirrors and have the mounts at the windows and down the door panel. The piece where the mirror connects to on the bracing is what is clear coated. I am sure the whole brace and mirror is clear coated but the top of the brace where the mirror connects too is the worse.

same problem
I have some aluminum wheels with discolored clear coat. I hope to strip and re coat them. Hopefully somebody knows a good remover/stripper. I do know a stripper, but she said she wouldn't do it.
I may be completly wrong here. Chrome is a thin coating over nickle. It uses acids and voltage to bind them. I dont think chrome has another clear coat. Perhaps some of the chrome over plastic stuff???
