I was just kidding around when I was talking about the drivers door swap. I am well aware about the rules and regulations of the California vehicle code (lots of family in CHP). As Masterbeavis said, it is a federal offense to mess with vin numbers and your vehicle is required to have atleast two that match. If you want to be able to have some creative freedom, buy a pre-smog dated vehicle and do as you wish.
I have 2 pre-smoggers,,,, they will end up with the 460 one day! I think I will be working the 351M over to a 400 when it is due for some maint. Just would really like the 460 power in that! Oh well, I have dealt with the smog-***** also, I had a 79
F-350 4x4, got labeled as a gross ppppuuulllluutorrr and WOW what a PITA, and this was down in OC. I have to say, off the subject that the smog laws here are about the biggest joke ever. You can have fenders falling off, no lights working, cracked windshield, leakin like a seive, bald tires,,,,, but hey!! It passed smog!!
At least alot of other states, (I am originally from Missouri) have state inspections, when I was doing them(1985-6) they cost $5.00 and I think it at least kept some of the crap off the road that I see here. And then trying to get a green sticker on my KTM,,,, don't get me started!!
Thanks All for the input
