Off topic, since it is highly flamable, it's also good for finding vacuum leaks on a gasoline engine. With the engine running, it you spray if over a suspected cracked vacuum line, the engine will rev when it sucks the WD-40 into the line. I've also used it to prove an intake manifold gasket was leaking on a gasoline engine.
Yep..I've used it for both purposes you list. Had an old Dodge Dart with the slant6 in it. Whenever it rained I had to hose the wires and stuff down with WD40 to get it running.

I was having the same problem with the "trailer disconect". It stoped when I started using Di-Electric grease everytime I connected any of my trailers (brakes or no brakes). Occasionaly I will use a small file and clean the connections too. If that does not solve the problem, check you wires to your trailer. One of the butt connectors on my trailer was heavily corroded and loose.

Ditto here on the "Trailer Disconnect". I have not done anything yet as it is intermediate with my trailers. I should try the above suggestion next time I tow.

There usually is something wrong - my 2005 F250 towing a Citation 5'er worked great the first year. Second year kept getting the intermittent trailer disconnect signal. Went all over that bugger electrically and could find nothing wrong. Controller worked fine on three other trailers. Son in law has an '05 F250 also, and his controller complaind when hooked to the Citation. Traded the Citation for a Gulfstream and problem solved.

When I was discussing a drum to E/H disc setup for my car hauler with an RV tech (Eastern Marine), he asked which year F250 I had. He claimed that some year TowCommands had issues.

He wnt on to say that 06 and 07s were typically not susceptible, but other years, including the 08, were seeing issues.

Not sure if it's related or not ...

I'm with everyone else, I love my tow command when its working, but it can be really annoying sometimes. I have hooked to several trailers using a 7-to-6 adapter and had no problems, but the last 2 that I have hooked up to would just show trailer disconnect and everything seemed backwards, turn signals, brake lights, etc.

First thing you should do is take the ground connection on the trailer apart, clean it to bare metal and attach it, using lots of dielectric grease.
