I Have The E4od In My 93 F-250 4x4. No Real Complaints So Far Except For A Softer 2-3 Shift Than The Rest. The Banks Trans Command Claims To Firm Up The Shifts, Even Under Towing Load. Has Anyone Installed This And Did It Make A Significant Difference??? The Threads Are Full Of E4od Disasters!! Will The Trans Command Help To Keep Them Away Or Bring Them On Quicker??
I installed the Transcommand on my 1990 E4OD 460 V8 motorhome and it works nicely. Racked up 22000 miles on it (motorhome had 74000 miles). Shifts nice and firm under heavy load and soft when accelerating gently.
I installed the transcommand (with the Banks PowerPak system) on my 97 E40D 460 motorhome. Like TallPaul said, nice and firm, even under heavy load. I have not heard of any problems with the transcommand.
The exhaust system made a huge difference in the power...I have no reason to doubt Banks claims of 80+ HP gain on a 460, FWIW.
sounds good. May want to check out the options at baumannengineering.com first, but the Transcommand was an easy backyard install in about 1 hr. I did not put the module where they said to put it (mounts on frame) because of the exhaust pipe. So I opted to mount it on the other side of the tranny. Need tiny nosed pliers and tiny flat blade screwdriver and or pin vise as I recall to pull out one or two connectors from tranny electrical plug (under cab) and then insert one from Banks package. Then all plugs together and you are good to go.
