Does anyone have Ford's Tow Command system from the factory in their truck. How do you like it? Is it worth the extra money? It seems to ben really cool.
I have it on my 06 F250 extened cab 4x4 with 6.0 PSD, I tow a 33' Holiday Rambler TT with two slides. Trailer weight is approx 9500. The tow command system is excellent. You will be glad you spent the money on it.
I ordered with my 05 F250 and am not sorry I did. It is well worth the extra money to have it installed in the dash. I didn't realize that the cost included a beefed up brake master cylinder also (based on responses from other threads on this subject). Something you don't get with an aftermarket add-on.
Thanks for the opinions. It sounds like something I need to get. I can just plug my trailer wiring in and be ready to go, right? I don't have to do anything special to the trailer wiring?
Two thumbs up here too. Also a great beat to dance to too! As everyone else said, you will NOT be dissapointed. Just took me some time to get used to the high RPM's when it starts to work. Just let it do it's thing, and you will be happy.
Good to know. It is now on my list of things to get for options. I really like the look of a stock dash. Between the tow command and the upfitter switches, Ford is doing well.
mndiesel, the closest you can get to the Tow Command is a "BrakeSmart" controller. Like the Tow Command, it also uses hydraulic pressure off the master cylinder to alter the brake voltage applied to the trailer brakes. They run about $400.00 or so. That is the route I was going to go originally myself however they were out of production when I was looking and I could not wait. I too have the Prodigy and it is very good and well worth the money.
