You know, I wonder what it would take to get a heads up display in these trucks... I know a lot of newer cars have them, but a little tach and speed reading up on the windshield would be pretty sweet.
In a gauge pod on top of the dash. Mil1ion is right, A/T's don't need a tach but when I started chasing milage I wanted to know what my engine ws doing and a small tach seemed to be best for my application. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...=70736&width=0
I dont have a/c in my truck, so theres a blank spot above the headlight and wiper switch.(where the a/c vent is on MBBFord's dash pic.) WHen I have a chance, Im gonna take a hole saw and cut a hole in the bezel and mount it in the dash.

That's what I did (see below). Goes right in and looks good, too. I maxed out the available space and used a 3 1/4" gauge, but there are smaller gauges that will go inside the square embossing and probably look even more factory. Bonus: The gauge kit came with several different gels provided for the backlight, so I used the green and it happens to match the Ford factory green backlight of my stock dash cluster perfectly.
Speaking of tachs, Mallory #MFL662 makes a decent tach available in 3.5" and 5" that has a built in adjustable rev limiter. I've been using one on my mopar. You don't see them much, but I got mine from PAW a couple years ago. Just under 95 bucks. They're worth a look. Joe
No pic's. My '75 has a med-sized tach on top of the steering column between the gauges with a 2" vacuum (manifold) gauge to the right of it. No AC - when the $$ gets right, I'll mount a 2" fuel pressure gauge where the AC "space" is to the left corner. Just a farm/camping truck, but I like to know the specifics for better mileage.
