I just purchased a 2000 excursion and the rear blower dose not come on, I can hear a click in the blower compartment when the fan control is switched but nothing happens.
First job is to check the fuses 103 in the battery fuse board & 6 under the dash.
The click you hear is most likely the Hi-Speed blower relay, I suspect it is your blower motor that is toast.
With the blower turned on unplug the blower motor and check for battery voltage on the Pink/White wire, if you have battery voltage plug the connector back in then use a jumper wire and ground the Black/Light Green wire, the blower motor should run, if not then most probably it is dead.
If the blower motor runs (I don't think it will) then my next port of call would be the blower motor speed resistor, it is located just to the left of the blower motor with four wires on it, remove it and inspect for burnt resistors and a blown fuse link after that I would check the Hi-Speed blower relay and it's ground.
I checked the fuses 103 and 6 and both were good. I started the truck and turned the ac to max and switched the rear blower to high, I had no voltage on the pink/white wire.

Hi 2000ex
I reckon we (you) now have to hunt out the auxillary blower motor relay which is in the relay block located behind the centre of the dash board. If you turn the main heater controls off (ones under the radio, switch straight up), when you turn that switch from off you should hear a relay click behind the dash.
I am not sure how to get at the relay block, if you use the turn signals and listen for the clicking the auxillary blower relay is with the flasher relay.
The blower relay will have a Light Blue/Pink wire (12 volts), a Brown/Yellow wire (grounded through the front heater controls), Black/Light Green (12 volts) and a Pink/White wire (power to rear blower motor).
Once you find the relay check for voltage on the Black/Light Green wire, if you have voltage use a jumper wire and bridge the Black/Light Green wire and the Pink/White wire (relay pins 30 & 87) and the blower should run, don't forget to have the rear blower controls turned on.
If the blower runs there is a 95% chance this relay is toast so it could be worth trying a new one.
I traced down the auxillary blower relay and that was the problem. Replaced it with a $10 relay from Ford and it works great.Thank for all your help Dereck, awsome info.

Hi 2000ex
Glad you fixed your rear heater, just out of curiousity and for future reference how exactly do you get at the realy block? Is it a major dash strip down?
To get to the relay block where the aux. blower relay and turn signal flasher is located I first removed the cover under the steering column that allows you access to the fuse panel on the drivers side, then there is a black cover above the gas and brake pedals with 3 small screws in it that needs to be removed, after that the relay block in question is located directly above the gas pedal next to the fire wall with a blue flasher relay and the black aux. blower relay attached to it and can be easily reached from the bottom. About a 20 min. job.
