What to do with Inner panel rust?
I'm going to be painting my whole car, i have the outer areas covered. But my car's an 85 iroc and the inside of the panels (fenders, hood, trunk) have a lot of rust. I need to have this taken care of, I'm using paint stripper for the outer parts since there's no rust at all there.
Here's the prob, there are too many curves and corners and impossible areas to use any type of mechanical tools, so that's out of the question. Too much rust to go by hand.
So this leaves me with two options. To use Por 15 or to sandblast. Sandblasting will be expensive, i'll have to buy the blaster and bring my panels one by one an hour and a half away from my home.
So my questions are, Por 15, a good or bad product? Will it chip off after a year or two? Does it work?
Or if i go with sandblasting, considering the rust gets there easier than in the outer panels, what should I use on the bare metal afterwards? The paint i use for the outer parts is too expensive to waste on the inner panels. Would tremclad do the job right?
Keep in mind, these inner parts will never be seen, so the way it looks afterwards, i do not care, as long as it stops the rust. If you guys have any better ideas or suggestions, I'll definitely consider it.
thanks in advance
