transmission help

Hello all,

Have a 2001 f150 v6 auto. she will not start while in park. have to change to N to start. also when i place in park from any gear park will not engage will just start to roll for a couple of feet then engage. any thoughts and help will be appreciated.

other than your problems with park, how does the tranny perform

it shifts fine thru all the gears. no other problems

Sounds like your linkage/cable is a bit out of adjustment and not fully engaging park.

does sound like loose linkage or something of that nature. can you get under the vehicle and engage park with your hand?

linkage is not adjusted, or lock inside the trans pan is not set right. should lock into park and engage the electric switch to allow start. neither is happening.
