I've heard of internally balancing a 428 can any one tell me what this intells and what the cost would be for somthing like this ?
The problem is the only sorce I've been able to find for a flex plate takes a 390 plate and welds on a weight. They are not very careful and they get it too hot and distort the ring gear. Ive installed two of them and had starter problems with both. I took them off and turned them on a brake lithe and you can see the distortion both side to side and up and down right where the weight was.
thanks for any help Leadmic
Mic, it will cost you between 150-200$. The crank, rods, and pistons all have to be out of the block and get weighed. Then your balnce guy adds heavy 'mallory' metal where needed to balance the assaembly in the pan. Then you need a 390 flywheel and a 390 Dampner. But if your local guys can't balance a flexplate, they probaly can't do this. Why not just buy a 428 'plate to start with ? DF
Hey, DF I cant find a 428 flex plate except through the aftermarket and the one they sell is the one I was talking about. If you know of a factery new or used in good shape for a reasionable price let me know.
thanks leadmic

The two that I tried were susposed to be for a 428 but were for a 352-427 with a weight welded on them they were aftermarket (like the ones you would get from auto zone). The factory 428 flex plates were not solid (like the ones you would get from autozone) they had holes in them.
thanks Leadmic
