I have a 76" f-150 w/ a 390 and I want to put headers and I am looking at the Hedman Elite Hedders out of the Jegs catolag. They are made out of 14- gauge and have a 3/8" flange. Are these gonna be a good, quality set of headers or is there something better out there. I would like to have a really good set of headers that will last a long time and that are strong. Thanks
I am currently running Doug Thorley's on my 76 F250 with the 390. The fit is excellent and they are a pretty heavy duty header. They have the industrial nickel coating on them inside and out. I paid $300.00 for them about 2 years ago. Take a look here, http://www.thorleyheaders.com/
Hey man thanks for the info I checked them out and they look like the ticket. But what I am a little worried about is the clearence between the starter and the steering box. Is it gonna clear the starter soo that if I have to take the starter off i won't have tp remove the header. Thanks.
Andrew, If you like 6-8 hours to change out the starter rather than 15 min. then go for the headers. I have the 390 out of my #2 truck and after putting them on #1, I'm going back with stock manifolds. Everybody ought to have one set though, and one was enough for me.
